The Reasons for Migration of Data from Amazon Web Service

Amazon Web Service Database Migration Service helps to migrate databases securely to AWS. During the migration, the database at source remains fully functional, without the need for stoppage of work or downtime. AWS DMS can migrate data from the common and most-used currently operational commercial and open-source databases.

Here are some of the benefits of data migration to AWS.

·        Easy to use: For data migration to AWS, there is no need to either install any drivers or applications or make changes to the source database in most cases. A few clicks on the AWS Management Console are enough to get the database migration started. The migration process is fully automated with the DMS managing the entire activity by replicating data changes occurring in the source database.

·        Nominal downtime: AWS DMS migrates databases to AWS with virtually no downtime or stoppage of work. Any changes to the data in the source database that occur during the migration are continuously replicated to the target. This allows the source database to be fully operational during migration. The target database can be kept synchronized with the source database for as long as necessary after migration.

·        Supports commonly used databases: Data migration to AWS can be done from most widely-used commercial and open-source databases. It supports homogeneous migrations like Oracle to Oracle and heterogeneous migrations between platforms like Oracle to Amazon Aurora. Migrations occur between on-premises databases to Amazon RDS or Amazon EC2, Aurora as well as databases running on EC2 to RDS or vice versa. Datamigration to AWS can also move data between SQL, NoSQL, and text-based data.

These are some of the benefits of data migration to AWS.
